Kupalovsky Park
This romantic park for walks is one of the most picturesque places in Minsk. Beautiful Belarussian nature, memory of the great poet of the country Yanka Kupala, legends and traditions of the summer folklore feast "Kupalye" found harmonic correlation in the park's appearance.
The Children's Gorky Park
This is the oldest park of Minsk city. One of the biggest and the most picturesque parks in Belarus, central Gorky's park boasts with decorative groups of centenary lindens and maples, weeping willows, birch alleys, exotic kinds of trees. The park can be easily recognized by a silhouette of the Ferris wheel rising over the trees. The attraction can reach the height of 54 metres, from where you can enjoy the panorama of the Belarusian capital. Different leisure activities, sports and entertainment such as tennis court, stadium, skating-rink, fitness centre, children's attractions, planetarium (see below), cafes are located in the park.
The Victory Monument Address: Victory Square The Victory monument in the center of Victory Square (Ploschad Pobedy in Russian) was erected in 1954 in honour of the victory of the soviet people over the fascist Germany and in commemoration of fighing men of the Soviet Army and partisans who fell during the Great Patriotic War. The authors of the grand monument are belarussian architects Zaborsky and Korol. The idea of creation of the obelisk was elaborated by the authors no longer than in 1942, when long three years were still left before the end of the war. Staying wounded in a hospital Zoborsky prepared sketches and drawings of the future monuments to the Heroes of the Great Patriotic War.
Art Gallery "The Palace of Arts" Address: Kozlova str. 3 Changeable thematic exhibitions of famous national painters, and international artistic projects take place in the spacious premises of the palace.
The Belarusian State Circus Address: Nezavisimosti ave. 32 All genres of the circus art are demonstrated in Minsk circus, including water plays, performances of air gymnasts and tamed animals. The diameter of the circus arena is equal to 13 metres, the hall amphitheatre is intended for 1600 spectators. The Belarusian State Museum of the History of the Great Patriotic War Address: Nezavisimosti ave. 25a
The museum of the Great Patriotic War is situated between the Palace of the Republic and the Palace of the Culture of the Trade Unions. There is an inscription over the facade of the museum's bulding saying, "The Feat of the people will live for ages".
The museum materials narrate the German policy of genocide. Documents and photos narrate the tragic fate of hundreds of thousands residents who died in death camps, in ghettos during punitive operations of fascists.
An essential part of the exposition is represented by the exhibits narrating the history of the Resistance. The subjects of guerilla household, self-made banners of guerilla groups, arms, personal goods and photos of partisans are shown in the museum. Visit website.
The Palace of the Republic Address: Octyabrskaya Square 1 The Palace of the Republic is the biggest concert and entertaining construction in Minsk. Concert halls, cafes, bars, restaurants, an art gallery (see below) are situated in the Palace's premises. The main Christmas tree of the country is also placed in the palace. Visit website.
Art Gallery "The University of Culture" Address: Octyabrskaya Square 1 (The Palace of the Republic) One of the most popular Minsk galleries demonstrates contemporary artistic works of young authors, students and graduates from Minsk artistic educational institutions. Thematic exhibitions, exhibitions with participation of famous masters and their students, projects of young specialists are conducted in the gallery.
The Palace of Culture of Trade Unions Address: Nezavisimosti ave. 25
The building constructed in 1954 has abundant decor components and sculptures. Columns and semi-columns are locates by the perimeter. A sculptural composition glorifying the theme of labour is placed onto the pediment of the main facade. Concert, dance, lecture halls, rooms for studies of hobby groups are situated in the internal premises of the building.
